Never Enough Notes is the brainchild of Kimberley-Marie Sklinar.

kim Contributors

Kim’s favourite bands are Death Cab For Cutie, The Police and Radiohead, she’s an alright writer and a terrible guitarist. She’s from Wakefield, West Yorkshire, but has been settled in London over the past few years. Having written for numerous publications and websites including The Smoke, allgigs.co.uk and The Beat Surrender, Never Enough Notes was created almost as a dare yet grows every day. Best gig – Radiohead @ Blackpool’s Winter Gardens, worst gig – Peter Green’s set at The Secret Garden Party festival. Kim is not very good at writing about herself in the third person. She is bordering on a cheesecake addiction, of which her favourite flavour is lemon and currently has an obsession with crosswords.

We have a fantastically-diverse (and ever-expanding) writing team, meet some of them below!

Karen Mason

karen 224x299 Contributors

Karen Mason is a thirtysomething Londoner who is the author of three novels, Summerset, Mad About the Boy and Two Become One. She is also mad about music, and in the dim and distant past was the lead singer of an indie pop band called Rug. After scaling the dizzy heights of playing places like The Amersham Arms and The Rock Garden, Karen gave up music to concentrate on writing. Her favourite artists are Muse, Morrissey, Roxy Music, David Bowie and Depeche Mode.

Liam Farrell

liam Contributors

Liam Farrell (22) is an English Language graduate from the University of Manchester and is an aspiring scriptwriter. Born in Bolton but a Manc at heart, he revels in anything to do with Madchester and also loves music that hails from New York. He has a passion for all good tunes from hip hop to indie, country to reggae, electro to heavy metal, classical to drum and bass……just not RnB! Favourite artists include Arctic Monkeys, Kasabian, Oasis, The Cribs and Eminem, but that is the start to a very long list! When not listening to music, Liam can usually be found sleeping, playing/watching football or wishing he was listening to music! His favourite day of music was at Glastonbury Festival 2009 where he stood in the sunshine supping Brothers cider watching The View, White Lies and Friendly Fires…nice!

Cheryl Jacobs

cheryl Contributors

East London-born Cheryl Jacobs studied NCTJ Magazine Journalism at Harlow College (a place where the staff continuously bragged about their most famous pupil Piers Morgan). She has a wide and varied taste in music which includes the oh-so credible to the down-ight naff. Cheryl’s favourite bands/artists past and present are: Blur, The Guillemots, The Kinks, Lykke Li – and oh yes, Kylie Minogue. The first single Cheryl ever bought was Kylie and Jason’s ‘Especially for You.’ She is addicted to the scent of vanilla, and reckons Leonard Cohen’s 2008 Glastonbury performance was one of the most moving festival sets ever.

Tori Green

tori Contributors

Tori Green was raised by folk singers (don’t hold it against her!), is addicted to fire and fuelled by Jammy Dodgers. Favourite band – Yeasayer, loves fierce females like Florence And The Machine and crazy about anything that has beautiful lyrics and makes her want to swirl a dervish. Best gig – Terry Callier at the Jazz Café – Worst gig – Martha (I don’t want to be here) Wainwright.

Mick Cooper

coop Contributors

Well travelled, blunt and to-the-point, Mick has joined the NEN writing staff in addition to Manchester Fanzine “High Voltage” and occassional articles for the BBC. Whilst his musical preferences are decidedly rock ‘n’ roll (fave bands – Muse, Offspring, Foo Fighters, Metallica & Green Day), Mick’s musical tastes are somewhat far-reaching. Ex-Station Manager for Keele University’s Student Radio Station KUBE Radio, Mick has a soft spot for good music from almost any musical genre… as long as it’s “good”.

Ellie Grimwood

ellie Contributors

Ellie has a Bachelors and Masters (both in music) from Oxford Brookes University, and her favourite bands include: Anberlin, Bright Eyes, Death Cab For Cutie, and Silverchair. She currently lives in London and wishes to eventually become a music supervisor. Best gigs include: Hem, Imogen Heap, The Killers, Longview, and The Perishers. Film scores are her favourite, but she adores practically every kind of music (excluding grindcore/doom metal and similarly silly names). Writing in the third person is weird, and she feels like Gollum whilst writing this. She loves Tim Burton, Hayao Miyazaki, Nigella Lawson, American teen dramas, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Narnia, and all that nerdy stuff. She lives for the days that start off with a one, a two, a one two three four. Basically, she is a big geek, but it’s the way forward. ^_^

Sarah Davis

sarahd Contributors

Croydoner Sarah Davis is part-Danish and has a day job in the drinks industry. She likes a huge range of music from 60s girl groups to the Fiery Furnaces but really doesn’t think much of Oasis. Her most memorable encounter with musical royalty is bumping into Ronnie Woods in the lobby of The Dorchester and saying ‘LOOK, THERE’S KEITH RICHARDS!’ very loudly indeed. It was just an accident but Ronnie took it pretty hard. Sarah is sorry and won’t do it again.
